There are many benefits and reasons why planning your own wedding would be the best idea. Weddings are costly enough without having to dish more money out to a stranger on top of everything else. Not to mention you might not be having a huge wedding and the details are easy or the opposite, it is huge and you can't afford any extra expense. Many women enjoy not having to deal with the details, but many more women feel better knowing exactly what is going on and when, so they don't have to stress. So what are some good reasons? Because you want to that is the best reason of all. After all, it is YOUR wedding! Here are five more reasons to consider it.
It is less expensive. There is a huge fee for a wedding planner or consultant. What ever you spend, they get between 10-15 % as your pay. If it is under their minimal rate, then they might not want to have you as a client. They might try to make you go more expensive, or charge you their minimal fee amount. A simple wedding costing $4000-$7000 would run you another $400-$700 in fees. That is two tickets somewhere for your honeymoon. Plus the more they plan and do for you, the more they can include as your cost and in turn fee.
You know exactly what you like, want, hate, or need. If you are picky and only like certain shades of certain colors and already have the perfect scheme and image in your mind, then doing it yourself is the best plan. That way if you find that your plans are slightly changing, it is at your discretion and not by someone else. This way if you can't have the EXACT color of flowers or the type you want, you can make the decision on whether it is the color or type that are most important to you right then and there. No phone calls or extra trips needed. Maybe your wedding is casual or not traditional, so the things you want to do are easily planned yourself to make sure they are what you want.

Your wedding is huge and the cost of the wedding planner would be almost like having two weddings. You might have 300 guests and $9000 dress that you are already in debt for, why add more. As long as you are organized, then there is no reason why you won't know exactly how many people will be there and what you will need. If you need help, that is what your fiancé, mother, mother-in-law, bridesmaids, and friends are for. Most anyone close to you will be willing to help. Especially moms are willing to go all out and do anything to be involved, and they are free.
Your wedding is small and easy to plan. If you are just having a few close friends and family to a small ceremony or getting married at the courthouse, then this should be easy to plan. Your biggest questions will be where to hold the reception, if you are having one, and what to feed everyone. Just look for a hall that has a bar so people can get drinks and provide platters or food or a small-catered meal. It is easy enough and the planning part will be fun and give you memories. Maybe you have decided to elope and the only expense you have is your dress, his tuxedo, the justice of the peace or notary public, and the cost of the location you have chose. You wouldn't need much help planning that.
There are many advantages to planning your own wedding. With all of the resources available through magazines, books and the Internet, you can easily find ways to plan your own wedding. Most people have the same resources as the big priced wedding consultants, so take advantage of those opportunities. In addition, if you plan in advance, you can take your time and visit wedding shows. There are many vendors willing to give discounts and advice to those planning their own wedding. Planning your wedding should be fun and stress-free. When you do it yourself, you know that you are getting exactly what you want.
