When thinking about a wedding, everyone seems to put the big details in the forefront. Sure the ceremony and the venue are a big deal, as are the reception and its location. However, what about the small things that amount to so much? Take for example the invitations. After all, without these who would come to the big event? Who would even know about it?

Picking out just the right invitation can be a very tedious task. With so many options these days and so many stationery stores within reach, where does one go to get the best deals and the most bang for their buck? What you need to look for is a place that specializes in the unique and different approach to invitations. The place should offer many different ideas and put a new spin on the idea of invitations. Why would you want to have the same invitations that your best friend used two months ago, or even worse what your parents used in 1962. Clearly you don't, so here are some original ideas to make your event stand out from the rest. The idea of having a great wedding invitation is to capture people's attention. Without their attention on the event, they will be more likely to forget it before it even happens. So the best thing to do is grab their attention and hold it. There are many ways to retain some ones attention; the best way is to offer something original and unique.

Computer Design

As you may or may not know, computers do the bulk of the work when it comes o designing invitations. People are on time frames when preparing for a wedding and it basically starts here. A really good invitation shop will be willing to sit down with you and design something extraordinary, after all this will bring more business. An eye-catching design or theme will put uniqueness front and center and not long be forgotten. You could work in conjunction with the stationary store, or bring in a template created at home on your own pc.

Photo Inlay

You want your invitations to be highly personalized. How about using a favorite photo? You can try a black and white or sepia-tone picture and have it on your invitation. Better yet, if you are good with the computer, it is quite possible that you can make this type of invitation on your own. Many people incorporate their engagement photo into the inlay of the invitation. This makes for a wonderful touch and keeps the quaint and special moments alive.

Scrolled Cloth

This idea has not been used in some time, perhaps even a couple of centuries. What a way to draw attention though having your invitation delicately printed on a fine sheet of clothe and rolled in a scroll fashion as the Greeks and Romans once did. This idea may not be for all however, this is the intention. You want it to be unique to have the attention this day deserves. This can easily double as the invitation and the wedding program.

Judge Bedford: Planning on having children?
David: Naturally.
Judge Bedford: Good, then I know what to get you for a wedding present.
David: Yeah? What’s that?
Judge Bedford: A vasectomy.

Engraving

The idea of engraving your invitation on a small clear sheet of acrylic or glass is a very untraditional method of getting the point across. This would be elegant and original all at the same time. You can almost bet no one you know have used this method of invitation before, you could be the first. This would make for a wonderful keepsake for the guests as well and you can assure it will not likely be tossed out.

Original Artwork

Have you ever thought about getting something done by a professional artist? This would make for a wonderful invitation, as it surely would be original. The artist could do something up for you, of your choice then have it copied professionally and printed on all your invitations and perhaps even your programs as well.

Ancient Japanese Leaf pressings

The idea that the Japanese developed so many years ago to press and store leaves and flowers, is still alive today many do this as hobby. What a wonderful idea this would be if you could incorporate it in an invitation. By having the pressed leaves of your choice or small flowers you would be adding a romantic and natural touch to your invitations.
