So, with the big day quickly approaching, do you feel you have everything in place? You have the cake ordered, the dress is finished and sized, the venues set and ready. How about the wedding photos? Did you lock in a photographer yet? If not, here are some tips to help you make the right choice and what to look for when choosing.
When going in for an appointment to see a photographer, you will obviously want to be shown some of there prior work as they will have a portfolio handy. You can request lots of there work, not just some of there very best. You want to see any minor or major errors that they may have committed. This will give you a good idea what kind of dedication they have for their career. When a mistake is made it is far too late to correct, as the day is already done and long gone. No second chances are given and this is supposed to be the greatest moment of your life, you should have it complete and fully intact.
When looking at picture packages, taking into account there are two sets of parents that will most probably want a large photo say 8 ½ x 11 or larger. This will easily cost more, the larger the photos the higher the price. You will surely want a very large photo, say an 11 ½ x 15, and you guessed it the price has gone up again. It is very easy to incur costs when picking out a package. Generally you will take an hour and a half for the photo session after the ceremony, this will be the bulk of the package. This session will be the most important part of the package, as it will entail the bride and groom and most likely the immediate family such as parents, as well as the wedding party. It should be noted that wedding insurance would be a good idea when it comes to a photographer, it is in understanding that it will not fix mucked up work, however it will give the photographer he incentive to do the best work they can do. This is pretty much the way it will be with all vendors. Insurance is a must. If you like you could ask if they do video as well, as this is a wonderful way to capture the ceremony. Of course you might have to get consent from your church prior, sometimes they do not allow cameras at the front of the church. Sometimes they will however, allow them in the back of the church. It would be best to inquire before booking a videographer.

Men may conseile a womman to be oon, But conseiling nis no comandement. He putte it in oure owene juggement. For hadde God comanded maidenhede, Thanne hadde he dampned wedding with the deede;

Aside from some wonderful still photography, video would have to be the best way to preserve the true spirit and emotion of your wedding. This being said there are a few points that should be addressed when picking a videographer. Here are a few to get you started. You should always inform them when you have a particular idea in mind and ask them if these ideas are a possibility. Whenever possible try to view some of the past videos they have done, to inspect the quality of their work remember this day only comes once, it need to be a memorable one not a video disaster. It may be that they decide to use special effects in the video that you may not want in yours. Never take them by their word or by them name they carry, to determine the quality and workmanship they will produce.
You wish for this video to be a carbon copy of that special moment, not a fancy show where lights and perhaps even silly things have been incorporated such as smoke and lasers. Please pay particular attention on the demo videos you watch to ensure that this videographer takes pride in their work ensuring the ceremony to be magical not a mishap. Save the special show of old Uncle Bob doing the Macarena where it belongs, on dance floor at the reception. If the videographer is a professional it will show in their work. You will see many things on that video that you will not remember, as you were center stage, and concentrated on other issues that kept you from seeing the ceremony as a spectator. The importance of being comfortable with the videographer that you are going to employ on this special day is without saying.
