Las Vegas Vacations

If there's one thing we all look forward to, it's vacations. Maybe not necessarily because we get to travel or see family, but definitely because we get to ditch work for a week or two. There's nothing like a long, much-deserved break from the old cramped cubicle. Am I on to something here or what? Anyway, the biggest concern when it comes to travel is the destination itself. Where do you want to go this year, and who all is coming along? Well if you're taking a trip with the entire family, maybe an adventure to Disney World sounds ideal. This can be a blast for everyone. However, if it's just you and the spouse heading on a road trip, you might want to consider Las Vegas vacations.

You haven't seen it all until you've seen Las Vegas. This is what I used to hear constantly from a college buddy of mine. He was born and raised in Vegas, and he swore up and down that it is the most wild and crazy hot spot you will ever encounter in the states. Anything you can imagine can be found in Vegas. Not that they're all pleasant, but they're there either way. So finally I checked into Las Vegas vacations for me and my wife. We headed down to Sin City for a long weekend. We chose to take our trip in the fall which appeared to be a dead season for Vegas. I booked a flight a month in advance, and lodging four months in advance. Now that's what I call planning ahead. I found a couple great deals on travelocity.com and snatched them when I had the chance. Planning ahead WILL save you some dough. Never wait until you arrive to book a hotel room. It's basically like a craps shoot.

 Bit of History
[When asked: “If women voted, would they not have to sit on juries?”:] Many women would be glad of a chance to sit on anything. There are women who stand up and wash six days in the week at 75 cents a day who would like to take a vacation and sit on a jury at $1.50.
—Anna Howard Shaw (1847–1919)

Okay, if you're considering Las Vegas vacations, there are a few things you should know. Set aside a portion of gambling money, if you plan to give it a whirl. This way you won't do anything stupid in the casinos. Once the cash is gone, you're done gambling. Avoid wearing cheesy tourist attire and fanny packs. Talk about painting a bull's-eye on your chest. Know where you're headed ahead of time. Print out directions if you can or use a GPS device. Don't fumble about with a map! You'll definitely look like a tourist if you do. Remember to stay safe while traveling to Vegas. They don't call it Sin City for nothing.
