Nicknamed the Sunshine State, Queensland is one of the most popular destinations in Australia. The state has so much to offer and Queensland travel brings golden beaches, surfing, city life and wonders of the natural world. Brisbane is the state capital, a thriving city of museums, theatres, live music, annual cultural events and botanical gardens.
One of the most well known landmarks in Brisbane is The Windmill, the oldest construction in Queensland. Convicts built it in Wickham Park in 1828. It has been well maintained; despite it not having its powered sails any more. Originally built to grind grain, it was converted to a museum and operates as a weather observatory today.
Tourism is very important to the area and holidaymakers are attracted by the sunshine, scenery and friendly people when experiencing Queensland travel. The Sunshine Coast has miles of lovely beach and is a favorite location for surfers. The Underwater World Marine Park has fresh water crocodiles, otters, performing seals and sharks that can be viewed from a moving walkway in a shark tunnel. There are also educational talks on the marine life and a rehabilitation center cares for dugongs, dolphins and turtles.

It would be nice to travel if you knew where you were going and where you would live at the end or do we ever know, do we ever live where we live, were always in other places, lost, like sheep.

Every child's fantasy is to wake up in a gingerbread house. It may not be a house from a fairy tale but the Buderim Ginger Factory is the next best thing. It is an operating factory and a tourist attraction with rides, factory tours, shops, restaurants and exhibits. The most famous attraction on the Sunshine Coast is probably Australia Zoo, set up by the late Steve Irwin. Irwin's widow still runs the zoo and it's still popular with families who come to see feeding time for the crocodiles. Animals native to Australia are displayed, including wombats, koalas, Tasmanian Devils and snakes. There is also an aviary and animals from other continents, such as cheetahs, tigers, elephants and komodo dragons.
Another favorite tourist destination when embarking on Queensland travel is the Gold Coast. In addition to the beaches and surfer lifestyle, there is plenty of nightlife. The skyline is dominated by skyscrapers and the Q1 building, completed in 2005, went into the record books as the tallest residential tower in the world. There is an amazing view of the city from the observation deck on Level 77. This is also the region for getting a direct flight to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the most treasured natural landmarks in the world. Queensland travel also means having fun and the Gold Coast has a number of theme parks, including Sea World and the Warner Bros Movie World.
